H OYA Vision Care has launched an extended power range of its MiYOSMART spectacle lenses, designed to support children with high myopia. The new range accommodates higher negative and cylindrical powers, offering slimmer edge thickness and larger diameters for better compatibility with various frame styles. High myopia, a severe form of short- sightedness, is a growing global concern, projected to affect 938 million people by 2050. Its progression is influenced by lifestyle factors like increased near-work and reduced outdoor time, leading to a higher risk of complications such as myopic macular degeneration and irreversible vision loss. Experts emphasise the importance of early intervention, as slowing myopia progression by even one diopter can reduce the risk of myopic maculopathy by 40%. Dr. Natalia Vlasak, Global Head of Medical and Scientific SPOTLIGHT Affairs at HOYA Vision Care, highlights the urgency of providing solutions for children with high myopia to prevent future vision-related complications. Since its launch in 2018, over 10 million MiYOSMART lenses have been sold across 40 countries. HOYA Vision Care remains committed to advancing innovative myopia management solutions, enhancing access to effective treatment, and supporting eye care professionals in delivering better vision care for children worldwide.
