Sterling’s humble beginnings to its remarkable 40-year milestone! Parikh Sales Corporation & Parikh Exports - the family moved to Mumbai and started exports of automobile spare parts, diesel engines and spectacle frames to African countries and after seeing some headwinds closed the same in 1983. The family had multiple retail stores like Parikh Watch Company, Parikh Radio Corner, Parikh Electrical Mart and Parikh General Stores, etc, in the city of Jharia/Dhanbad in the state of Bihar-Jharkhand. The Parikh family forayed into the distribution of eyewear in the domestic market under the name of Skylark Optical Company, started by Dulerai Parikh, Jitendra Parikh and joined by Ketan Parikh in May 1984. Sterling-Skylark Optical Company started importing eyewear from Hong Kong, London and Italy. Rajesh Parikh and Amit Parikh joined the family business to take it to the next level. Anand Parikh joined in later to take the branded business ahead.
