I AM REBECCA Kirchmeier, and I work as a perfumer at Düllberg Konzentra in Hamburg, Germany. Originally from the south of Germany, I grew up surrounded by nature, Bavarian tradition and a grounded way of life, influences that still shape my creative world. Becoming a Perfumer was never part of my childhood dream. For many years, I was certain I would pursue a PhD and build a career in the food industry. Science fascinated me, especially sensory perception, how taste and smell influence our experiences. But luckily, life had greater plans waiting for me. My first role in the flavour industry unexpectedly introduced me to fragrance. What began as curiosity slowly evolved into fascination. I was fortunate to meet mentors on my journey who recognised my potential and encouraged me to explore further. Combined with my adventurous spirit, ambition, perseverance and dedication, I decided to follow this new direction. Today, I have the privilege of working in what has truly become my dream profession, where science meets artistry, and memory transforms into scent. Scent is the most intimate of our senses, having a unique ability to unlock memories and emotions. A single note can transport us instantly: to a childhood home, a seaside sunset, your favourite meal, or a beloved café, even to a place you thought you had forgotten.
